Best comments of audience 2020

07.18.20 On #4 so far. This is very varied and enjoyable. Craig Ketter plays Bob Cohen's difficult piece superbly. The noise piece by Nadzharov is now moving into contrasting volumes, very interesting. Zvolinksy's demonstration makes me curious to learn more, I will look him up. Nizamutdinova's improvisation had me inhabiting an alien forest for a while there, I loved it. I would suggest however that all SoundCloud links should be embedded just like the YouTube videos are. The opening of the SoundCloud in a new window or tab will probably cause confusion or at least timing issues for many viewers.

07.18.20 I really enjoyed "Rhapsody In Discomfort#3: Covids “Я” Us," as composed and performed by Dan Flanagan. I'm listening from Sacramento, California, U.S.

07.18.20 Great!!! Thank you for everything. I will enjoy going back and hearing things again! Too much to think of and to say, right now I am so hungry! Thanks again.

07.18.20 This festival is off to a wonderful start, and I am looking forward to this entire day - from New Jersey (USA)

07.20.20 Dan Flanagan

07.20.20 Many good choices. I love so many of these performances. My favorite is Catherine Neville's piece. #35

07.20.20 Amazing program!

07.20.20 I love the sense of movement in Neville’s Danses, and the way Dan appears to perform the piece “to” the lithograph in the video. It surely contributes to his interpretation to be able to look at the image that inspired the piece as he plays—and adds to our experience too! Flanagan, really resonated with a lot of what I’ve felt during my own time in lockdown. I loved the violin piece that was composed and performed by Dan . A very clever, relevant and remarkable piece.

He writes: the work “Mysteries and Hysterics” for two cellos was written as an immediate reflection upon the confusion and franticness I observed in New York City as it rushed to implement quarantine measures in the face of COVID-19. I wrote the cello parts as a heated, dramatic dialogue that seems to promise calm before a sudden and aggressive stop to the piece.

Anton Rovner more
